Sweden-China Circular Economy Business Roundtable Successfully Held in Tianjin

On May 28, the Sweden-China Circular Economy Business Roundtable was held in Tianjin. The event was organized by the Business Sweden and the China Association of Circular Economy, bringing together enterprises and research institutions from both China and Sweden to exchange views on green transition, resource circularity, and sustainable industrial cooperation.

Stina Hinderson, Second Secretary, Economic and Trade Affairs, Head of the CSR Centre at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijng , emphasized in her remarks that the circular economy is a strategic priority for the Swedish Government. She underscored that strengthening cooperation between Sweden and China in this field constitutes an important component of the China–Sweden Working Group on Green Transition Investments, providing a valuable platform for advancing bilateral collaboration on sustainable and green development.

Mr. Robin Agné, Project Manager of Business Sweden, introduced Sweden’s progress in circular economy development and presented the China–Sweden green transition cooperation platform, “Pioneer the possible.” He expressed hope that the platform would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation among Chinese and Swedish companies, organizations, and industrial ecosystems, jointly advancing green transition and circular economy development. Senior Investment Manager, Mr. Roderick Xu, outlined Sweden’s strengths as an investment destination in areas such as energy, transportation, materials, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and digital technologies.

Representatives from China Resources Recycling Group and its affiliated subsidiaries participated in the event, introducing the Group’s business portfolio and future development plans. A number of Swedish companies and organizations also shared their experiences and solutions in circular economy and green technology, including Alfa Laval, SKF, Scania, Atlas Copco Group, AFRY, Envac, Epiroc, and the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute. Participants exchanged views on topics such as industrial energy efficiency, resource recovery, remanufacturing, circular systems development, and sustainable development. They expressed a shared interest in strengthening communication and exploring mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities in the future.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Zhao Kai, Executive Vice President of the China Association of Circular Economy, highlighted Sweden’s leading expertise and extensive experience in advancing the circular economy. He noted that since 2016, the China Association of Circular Economy and the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing have jointly established a platform for dialogue and exchange, fostering practical cooperation and deeper engagement between the two countries in this field. Looking ahead, he expressed the Association’s commitment to strengthening collaborative innovation and expanding practical cooperation with Swedish enterprises to further advance circular economy development and green transition efforts.
