On June 13, 2025, the "China-Sweden Seminar on Green Operations and Ecological Development in the Yangtze River Delta" was successfully held in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. The event was co-organized by Business Sweden and the Shanghai Pudong Foreign Investment Enterprises Association, with strong support from SKF (China) Co., Ltd., the Taicang Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Taicang Industrial Investment and Development Co., Ltd.
Held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden, the seminar aimed to deepen bilateral cooperation in green development and was part of the Pioneer the possible platform’s ongoing activities in China. Prior to the seminar, participants toured the SKF Taicang R&D and Production Base to learn about its sustainability practices and innovations.
The event opened with a video address from Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra, Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai, who underscored the importance of strengthening public-private dialogue to jointly foster a sustainable global economy. Ms. Amanda Alkemark, Regional Manager for Government Affairs, Asia & Pacific at Business Sweden, introduced the Pioneer the possible platform, highlighting the progress and prospects of Sweden-China cooperation in sustainable development.
As a core member of the platform, Mr. Wang Hui, President of SKF China and Northeast Asia, delivered a video message affirming SKF’s commitment to advancing ESG collaboration between the two countries. Mr. Thomas Zhao, Vice President of SKF China and Northeast Asia, presented the company’s ESG strategy and action roadmap. Other members of SKF’s leadership team also participated in keynote speeches and roundtable discussions focused on ESG and supply chain management.
Additional insights were shared by Ms. Yao Juanjuan, Director of the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and Mr. Colin Si, Head of Sustainability and Energy APAC at Volvo Cars, offering both theoretical and practical perspectives on green development. Management from IKEA and Envac also joined the roundtable to exchange views on green production and the circular economy.
Mr. Sheng Haifeng, Vice Mayor of Taicang city, attended the seminar and delivered remarks. Chinese experts and business leaders actively engaged in discussions, further advancing China-Sweden collaboration on sustainable development.
The seminar brought together over 80 participants from the Pioneer the possible platform and the ESG Alliance of Pudong New Area, marking another milestone in promoting bilateral cooperation on green transition.
