Sustainability is at the core of our purpose and our direction as a business. Scania was the first manufacturer of commercial vehicles to get it´s climate target approved by the Science Based Target Initiative in order to reach the Paris agreement of limiting global warming to 1.5 degree.

Scania's sustainable transport approach is to meet the passenger and freight demand of social and economic activities and minimize the impact on the environment on the premise of maximizing customer benefits. There is no silver bullet to achieve a sustainable transport system. We need a holistic approach where we consider the specific transport assignment and the transport and logistics infrastructure. Scania works with stakeholders and partners in China and around the world to lead the transformation towards sustainable transport solutions.

When establishing the new Scania Rugao factory, sustainability is top of mind. To achieve Sacnia put a lot of effort into using the right technical solutions already in the factory design phase. The systems are designed to reduce energy usage and to work as a circular system, reusing as much energy as possible. Scania Rugao factory will use solar panels and cooperation with local energy companies has been initiated to build infrastructure that will provide the factory with the right amount of green energy in time for the start of production.
